If you have another router lying around, then please disable the WiFi on the Sagem 2304n router, then check out the thread describing how to link two routers together.

This seems to be the best way for people to obtain a WiFi connection for now.

Any WiFi enabled router will be fine as a 2nd router in this instance. The document is fairly easy to read through and follow.

Whilst I put it all together, I did have valuable input from various people, including from this forum's moderator team and some people who tested it out for me before it was posted.

      Re: Sagemcom F@ST 2304n Information

New to the forum and been reading the posts about the Sagem with great interest. I have just received mine and am due to go live on the 31st of May. The tales of woe caused me such concern that I e-mailed Sky for an assurance that the equipment they have supplied me would be free of any faults and fit for purpose. I have just received a very interesting reply from the Sky Help Centre which I cannot reproduce but here is the gist of the answer :

There was an issue with a particular batch of Sagem routers.

The rectification of this is a priority for Sky and AS OF TODAY forced firmware upgrades are being implemented to resolve this problem.

If mine does not work properly tech support will talk me through the process to update the firmware. This may not be necessary as by the time I go live the mass upgrade should be in place from my end

This would seem to suggest this sorry episode is finally over ....... or am I being too optimistic?

Hope this of help and thanks for all the information from those who have posted

Update to customers experiencing wireless stability issues with Sagemcom F@ST 2304N routers
      on 20-05-2011 07:19 PM

We are rolling out a firmware upgrade to customers affected by wireless stability issues on Sagemcom F@ST 2304N routers. The rollout will be completed in about 4 weeks and we will issue a further update when it has been completed.

Please can you make sure that your router is kept switched on over the next 4 weeks to allow it to receive the update.

You may notice a period of about 10 minutes when you are unable to access the internet, please don’t switch the router off when this happens as it may be going through the upgrade.

We thank you for your patience and we’re sorry for any inconvenience that this issue has caused.

      Re: Sagemcom F@ST 2304n Information

Now Sky have mentioned this, I can confirm I was asked to test, & it seems to work perfectly for me, 5.14.6.1a4N

I have been streaming video over my wifi for the last 48 hours, as well as normal sufing, & torrents & surfing on wired. No problems what so ever.

Edit - I agreed not to say anything about this, but they mentioned it first, anyway I just got in trouble & my post removed on the Sky forum for mentioning it.

Aye they asked me to test it too, but they had issues getting it sent to my router.

      Re: Sagemcom F@ST 2304n Information

      Help please Scubbie
My Sky broadband has been activated today - all is up and running on the F@ST 2504N router they provided.
But I want to activate UPnP - following various trails on this site I have ascertained I need to get to the advanced settings page for my Router and check a box on that page.

I have followed the advice above to try to generate a user name and psw in order to gain access to my router.

I get the Username back in the exact format you describe - mac address in lower case then the @skydsl

I get back a new complex psw.

I try to sign in using the new username - and neither the new complex psw they have generated for me - or the old 8 character in capital psw supplied by sky work - I keep just getting the Authentication Required dialogue box coming up requesting a User name and a password. Can you offer any advice?

      Many thanks, Vidal

      Re: Sagemcom F@ST 2304n Information

The @skydsl username and password are for using on a different non-Sky router. is this your intention?

The default settings to access the Sky router are:

      Username: admin
      Password: sky

These should be entered in lowercase letters only.
