      Sky Sagemcom F@ST2304 insides + pics

      Just opened mine up and got some pictures. Also wrote down the chipset details. Will add them to the thread in a sec. Beware, the links to the pics are very large pictures!

      BCM63281 = ADSL2+ chipset
      BCM4313 = Wifi 802.11b/g (possible n??)
      BCM6301KSG = Line Driver

      Thanks for posting this. I'm waiting for one to arrive myself and intended to do the same, so you beat me to it.

      I know that Fuzzy Logic has been wanting to see inside one for a while now too.

      Sorry lol. Still hopefully the information helps! It has 4 very annoying screws that I didn't have the proper tool to unscrew, however a small flathead screwdriver is able to get enough grip within the screw head to be able to turn!

      I am going to research some more on it all now.

      Two aerials!!! That should make for better wireless and they have also positioned them nearer the top of the board which should help the send/receive. Provided you stand it the right way up of course

      I think that's only one (dipole ?) antenna. There's solder pads for a second antenna, to the right of the antenna, just below the capacitor - I wonder if they're active. As you say the positioning does look better, if you put it that way up, and it looks like they've etched the copper away from the PCB where its attached, so it doesn't block the signal.

      Im waiting on one too have a tracking number for RM but no info as yet.Do these things self update or do you need to update via the cd ?

      Normally the router does update when connected to the Sky servers. However there has been an issue with some leaving the Sky warehouse which haven't had the initial firmware correctly installed.

      If you receive one which does not work correctly, then the CD could well be required to update the software.

      As for delivery, due to the major issue which Sky experienced, their stock levels were severely depleted. Routers which were classified as faulty were not asked to be returned and the true nature of the issue was subsequently not realised sooner.

      It should be pointed out that the initial firmware installation is something that should be completed at the Sagem factory, not in Sky's warehouse.

      The result is that routers are taking up to several weeks to be dispatched now. I noticed a post on the Sky help forum by Robert the other day. He stated that new customers should be receiving their routers around 10 days before connection, whilst those with faulty routers could expect their up to 10 days after they are ordered.

      In truth, many new customers are receiving their first router as late as 2 weeks after the 'live' date.

      so i was lucky and only connected for a 1 day without the router shame its faulty and now i have to wait god knows how long to get a replacement from them gonna see if i can request a dlink or netgear

      just got one of these routers wednesday, came on my live day. worked fine for the first 10 mins, i was connected over ethernet. now it randomly drops the connection. could go at anytime to be honest. i called sky and they said a bad batch of these are circulating, the mac addresses start c8c, so beware. im getting a replacement after trying to update the router with the cd to no avail. she said because of stock problems it may take up to 10 days. i do have to say though, the wireless strength is amazing compared to my bthomehub2. as this sagem is also wireless "n" i get 1 bar off full and im 1 flight up and 1 room over from the router. hopefully ill get the new one soon so i dont have to worry about ti dropping the connection. its also cocking up my dlm speed settings as i keep having to re boot the router, the call centre woman said it will log it as a line error and reduce the speed to try and correct it. was on 16meg yesterday, now on 15. so dlm will have to be reset when the new router comes i guess
