Help with sagemcom f@st 2304 and zoom 4420

I hope someone out there can help me because sky won't !!

I have just gone over to sky broadband and 'unfortunately' they sent me a sagemcom f@st 2304.

I'm trying to connect a zoom 4420 game point ( used for the xbox ) to the router via WEP and not matter what I do I simply can't make it connect.
I know it's not the zoom, since if I connect up the old router the zoom connects with the same key. ( I manually entered the old key into the sky router to make my conversion easier ).

Is there any way of finding out why the sky router is rejecting the connection ?

If I take off all encryption on the sky router, I can get the zoom to connect but for obvious reasons, I don't want to run like this.

ANY help would really be appreciated.

Re: Help with sagemcom f@st 2304 and zoom 4420

When you are trying to set the encryption to WEP check and see what drop down options it has for authentication type

If it only has sharing then it won't work. This is the case for some of the new sagemcom routers.

Side note when you change the encryption to WEP, and then tried to connect did it even ask for a network key.

Apparently the wifi alliance are trying to get rid of WEP and TKIP, and have been for a while.

Whow that was quick...wasn't expect such a quick response....so thank you for that first.

I do have 'shared' as the only option....so does that mean I have to face the kids just before their Easter break and tell them they can't play xbox live !!!

After changing to WEP and trying to connect, the zoom never asks for a key

Not good because the zoom does not support WPA or WPA/WPA2

You should be able to get the 2304n to work for online gaming.

Might have to setup port forwarding though.

You might also want to post your stats and we can make sure that you are on a gamer profile.

You're brave! ...or do you plan on texting just before you board the plane to somewhere hot & sunny?

Worse case scenario, you can look at connecting the two with either a long Ethernet cable or a pair of HomePlugs.

It's possible to connect the zoom with your PC routing the signal to the xbox.

Just found out how to get it working using sharing.

What OS is your PC running?

See link below for how to setup WEP using sharing.

Re: Help with sagemcom f@st 2304 and zoom 4420

After 'I_hate_Sky_awnsers' help I was looking at the homeplug option. I have them already and just tested it. Works fine.

But now I possibly have another option with the PC routing. I'll take a look at this.

I can't express what a great forum this is. I've been at this problem for a week and within 1 hour I can 'see the light at the end of the tunnel'....I thank you both for saving my bacon!

The worst thing is I couldn't have told you what I just did if I was in work.

The biggest issue is that WEP with sharing as the authentication type is really unsecure.

I am guessing that you may have had a pair from BT Vision lying around. Please ensure that they aren't the ones that were recalled:

The important draw back with that option is that the PC must be on and if you wanted to do something at the same time which was heavy on the processor, it can affect the overall performance of everything.

As IHSA has hinted at, it is forbidden for them to mention specific websites, let alone an independent support site such as this.

According to the figures release in January this year, there are over 3.2 Million Sky BB users. Over 1.2 Million are on Sky BB Lite & Sky BB Unlimited. If the other 2 Million users (all on Connect) were aware of this site, then they would have left by now.

I always mention google but my argument to that is that it is a word in the dictionary.

Are remit is very very small.
