No router arrival today so the earliest it can be with me is Tuesday now. Leaving me without service for over 2 weeks.
      What a complete joke.
Good news! Royal Mail deliver on Saturdays and they will be working this Saturday too, which they hate as it will be a heavy load for them.

No problem. Saturdays are normally a light load, but this Saturday is often extra heavy.

It will need to be 'Signed for' as Sky use what used to be known as 'Recorded Delivery'.

I believe Sky now used Royal Mail Tracked, which is slightly different to Recorded in that it doesn't require a signature but requires you to be available to accept the package.

Re: Sagemcom 2304 piece of CRAP !

      Hi All

Sorry for jumping-in on your thread, but I'm wondering if you guys can give me some advice.

Just had Sky BB installation / activation last Monday.

Unfortunately I too received the Sky Sagemcom F@ST2304N router with a C8C.... MAc address.

On first powering-up / resetting all seems well, but then the wireless (& wired - no anytime+) connections suddenly die after about 2 min. All lights on the router remain green so there's no indication of a fault - the connection just fails & refuses to let you reconnect without a reboot.
After a frustrating 48h trying to get on-line I called Sky and was put through to a BB advisor.
Spent an hour or so going through all the tests without any joy. When the router failed to locate & load firmware from the CD the assistant said the router was faulty & has ordered me a replacement one.

Managed to find a bit more time to tinker with it yesterday am. Did eventually get the firmware to update (after manually resetting router), but no difference - still crapping-out after ~2 min.

I've now turned off the wireless adapter & connect through the old Linksys I was using with my Virgin modem.
Connection is now rock solid - 24h+ & no disconnections.

Problem is I'm now 6 days-post activation and my figures look like this:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 608 kbps
Line Attenuation 26.0 dB 15.0 dB
Noise Margin 21.4 dB 8.0 dB

It would appear that DLM has not yet started or been unable to kick in.
Should I wait the requisite 10 days or give Sky a call now?

      Thanks in advance, Joe.

Re: Sagemcom 2304 piece of CRAP !

Ok, essentially there you have 3 issues:

      * DLM not started - call Sky to get it activated/chased

      * Anytime+ not activated - assuming that you have physically connected the Sky+ HD STB to your LAN and it is showing that the network adaptor is connected, ensure that you have activated it on the My Sky pages. If it is enabled, then call Sky to chase it

      * The Sagem 2304n router has quite a few issues, I am glad to see that you have a connection using a different router. Watch the pages on this forum and the official Sky Help forum to see how they progress

Re: Sagemcom 2304 piece of CRAP !

      Guys

First off many thanks for the quick responses!

Nostromo: The 'My Broadband' page has no mention of training, only this: "We are currently unable to display your broadband connection details". Do I presume it has not been able to start?
Also order tracking is showing my replacement broadband box is 'processing'. Do you think this could be the reason?

Scubbie: Anytime+ is now ok with the wireless disabled - thanks.

If my replacement is another 2304, what are the chances of it being faulty also - any ideas on the failure rate on these? Google is showing a 'LOT' of people having issues!

      Thanks again, Joe.

Its probably been stopped since you ordered the new router.
As i side note one of my neighbours has just signed to sky and has recieved a d-link router not sure if thats better or worse.

Maybe they are biting the bullet and withdrawing the 2304N completely until they get it sorted out

I can't imagine the problems this must be causing Sky Help, especially with their Answers script, which will not allow them to decide immediately that the router is the problem and forces them to do a lot of useless trouble-shooting.
