new line activation today and guess what, I have another useless C8C router
Won't even talk to me about ordering a new one until tomorrow, even though I know its screwed!
      I'm seriously not impressed.

Might wanna start a new thread.

Is it just the power light that's lit? If so there is a firmware update to resolve the issue.

We have to jump through a lot of hoops these days to send out a new router.

If you have power light only lit, connect with an ethernet cable. Load your v5 cd then look for it in your start menu. Once in there, look for the WIN file as there (helpfully) doesn't seem to be a sagem recovery file on this version. Click through the screens to confirm you are connected to your LAN by eth and the recovery will take 3 mins. Oddly, most of them seem to be working, which makes a change. If not call them and they will replace straight away.

I have the same router and apart from the first day which i think it was me causing the problems e.g not connecting properly mines been running smooth. I'm running linux though wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Router is frozen and unreachable long before I could do any firmware upgrade. I tried this yesterday and the tool itself says that it cannot find a device at 192.168.1.1.
A replacement should be on order, lets see if it is shall we...

Firmware cannot be upgraded, the router is completely unresponsive about 10 seconds after booting with power and ethernet lights lit (sometimes wifi light too after a reboot).
A new router is necessary, so it'd better not be too difficult for sky to send me another or I'll want some compensation. I do some IT support from home so without my broadband I'll have to travel to the job instead, costing me money.

So far my experience with sky broadband is about as negative as it could be. Sending me faulty equipment, spending over an hour and a half on the phone to tech support, escalating it through 3 layers of tech support before getting through to someone who admitted there ius a known fault with the c8c sagemcom routers and along the way experiencing a tech support person who thought it was acceptable to say something rude when he obviously thought the phone was muted (a complaint and investigation is underway about him as I type).

As I see it, Sky have until the end of the week to get me a new router or I'll cancel the service before its even begun.

New routers normally take 3-5 days to be delivered.

There is a couple of know issues with the new sagemcoms

DON'T cancel, ask for a MAC code.

Make sure that you mention wanting a MAC and don't want to cancel.
