      DLink router and vpn drops every hour

      I'm new to Sky BB and have recently switched from UKOnline albeit rather painfully. I work at home and hence use VPN to company intranet. About every hour the vpn drops - internet connection still up. I reconnect and all is fine for about an hour. Info;

      Direct connect to DLink router running Sky 1.11 firmware
      Same problem though wireless
      No problems using personal BT bband connection with BTHomeHub and different phone line
      No similar problems with UKOnline in the past with supplied ActionTech DSL gateway

      So it appears to be the Sky router or service. Anyone experienced this before? Tried other resources but nothing conclusive.

      Would I be able to use the ActionTech router or would Sky reject that, as a test only?

      Getting desparate now!! and after initial switchover fiasco with Sky I'm not that impressed.

      You can extract the adsl password and username details from the d-link router using my program - link below, best to do so before the router updates itself to the V2 firmware if you can.

      Thanks. Have you had any experience with this router and vpn dropping almost every 1 hour? Keeping tabs on the event log and vpn connection has dropped every hour for the past 3.

      Re: DLink router and vpn drops every hour

      I'm afraid I don't use VPN, and I normally use a better router. I only bought a d-link to try to help out the forum members who wanted to use their own router, and to keep it as a spare.

      Hi, are you saying that this particular vpn problem is fixed in a new fw update for this router? All I know is that this is a DLink router but don't know what model as Sky slap their label on the back. I'm currently using my older ActionTec router after configuring the username/password and it is holding up - so far

      There is one of the sky routers that need a firmware update to support VPNs

      I cannot remember which router it is though.

      The model is in your heading.

      The earlier Sagems needed an update, I don't know about the Dlinks, but I didn't think they did.
