      sagemcom 2304N settings

plugged in router ( sagmcom) had a look around......dont go live till 31march

      new sagemcom one - Sagemcom
      Model Number F@ST2304
      Firmware Version 5.12.4a4N
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 11.0 dB 6.0 dB
Noise Margin 11.5 dB 31.0 dB

      old speedtouch router -
      Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 8,096
      Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]: 75.37 / 1.89
      Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 13.5
      Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 5.5 / 12.0
      SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 23.0 / 9.0

      things changed slightly..

how can it change if i still on 8meg connection ? i.e. -Line Attenuation / Noise Margin ect..
can differant routers give differant read outs?

does my readings bode well for new connection ?

The figures with the Sagem are far far better than your ST, which probably means it is time it was kicked into touch anyway.

You should get the full whack 20Mb with no problem at all. Just let DLM run and don't get impatient and call Sky. DLM will do a better job on your line than the Sky agents. I would not be surprised if you were one of the lucky ones who gets more than the 20Mb.

      Re: sagemcom 2304N settings

The main point is your low attenuation.

This will change when you are transferred onto Sky's LLU equipment (normal with ADSL2+) assuming this is present in your exchange.

The Noise Margin will initially jump when you are transferred to Sky, but as DLM does it's magic, things will improve.

Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.

The lower the attenuation the better, judging by yours and assuming that you are on ADSL2+ your line length is around 400m

The higher the SNR the better as it means it can be reconfigured higher. There is a DLM profile kicking around that is 23Mb

      The shorter the better.

Do you live in a tent in the grounds of the exchange or something? lol

That is a really short line length.

i hoping this will get me near to the full speed....

      like i said earlier....

      8meg connection just now-getting 8096kbps down load speed ( full whack ).
so hoping will get full whack with LLU

i was asked to keep you guys posted on my results over the next 14days...no problem at all...
