One hell of a strange problem,,now solved...

To cut a long story short,I have been with sky broadband since day one and originally had the Netgear 834 router which was fantastic.Due to a divorce and to get the ex off the account I had to cancel sky and re take a new contract in which they supplied me with a new Belkin router.I could connect perfectly well via cable but could not get any wireless connection at all.I changed channels, changed security settings and even dis connected all security and nothing would connect to it.I went through customer services and they sent me a brand new one again and believe it or not this was exactly the same, not even my phone,PS3 would connect.I went through all the same settings on the new one to no avail.
I spoke to cust services again and they were at a loss so in desperation I mentioned that I still had my old Netgear and could they re instate it to my account.I gave them the mac code and connected it back up and connected to the wireless straight away!!

Has anyone come across this behaviour with the router before and if so could you throw any light on why this could have happened with two brand new routers.

It wouldn't have been a belkin one that you received, more likely a d-link or sagem one. Not aware of any issues specifically with wireless, but there have been a batch of new sagem routers with issues, mostly problems getting sync. If your router(s) came with a version 5 cd you should try running the firmware restore - instructions are probably on this site somewhere.

they supplied me with a new Belkin router.
That's the first time I have heard of the Belkin being used by Sky. Are you sure it was not a Dlink or the new Sagem? there have been a lot of problems reported about them.

You would probably been able to connect with the Netgear without even asking them. Unless it is blocked, for non payment or miss use, any Sky router will connect on any Sky line.

Routers will often be suspended when broadband subs are cancelled.

No doubt. However I have bought about 9 from eBay and all connected to my line, before being flashed and sold on.
