Pictures would help if possible, but others have said they've received this router

I assume it looks the same as the others?

Re: SageMCOM Pack F@ST 2304N SKY

I should receive this router tomorrow as I have just joined Sky Broadband and have been told that my router has been dispatched. I just hope it features a Broadcom Chip inside and will be using it along with a Home Hub 2.

Some people have said this is a Wireless N router, but Sky deny this, so I am gonna presume it is built on the Draft N specification.

Re: SageMCOM Pack F@ST 2304N SKY

If you go on the Sky Help Forum, there is a forum topic on a Wiresless N Router and there a Sky Representative called Robert confirms that this router foes not have the full wireless n specification despite the letter n on the routers model number. I don't know what to believe.

Re: SageMCOM Pack F@ST 2304N SKY

I got this router and was activated today.

It updated the firmware as soon as I connected it to my broadband and went from 5.12.4a4N to 5.14.6a4N.

It is 802.11n but only single channel and single stream 2.4ghz so only supports connecting up to 72Mbps wirelessly.

Re: SageMCOM Pack F@ST 2304N SKY

      Thank you for that John.

Another benefit that WiFi n has is a stronger WiFi signal. Are you, or someone else, able to compare this new one with a WiFi g router?

It might help to install InSSIDer to get a more detailed picture.

Ideally place the two side-by-side to gain a direct comparison.

The stronger signal means that you can be further away from the router and still have a reasonable connection.

Re: SageMCOM Pack F@ST 2304N SKY

I just tried this with a Netgear DG834G v4 which has a single external antenna and the F@ST 2304N did seem to provide a slightly stronger signal at range accorinding to InSSIDer.

I did take my laptop outside so it had some walls to get through too.

Re: SageMCOM Pack F@ST 2304N SKY

      Many thanks for that John.

Taking a measured response, and I'm sure that others on here will have different opinions already, time will tell as to other important factors such as:

      a. reliability
      b. functionality
      c. connection speed (different chipsets do vary)
      d. hackability

I'm kind of disappointed that it doesn't have better WiFi n capabilities. Alternative frequencies are a nice new addition (5Mhz, not just 2.4Mhz), but would only benefit WiFi n computers as WiFi g computers can't access those channels.

The reported speed of 75mb is very slow for WiFi n. All the others I have seen have speeds from 150Mbs to 300Mbs. Whilst I appreciate that BB speeds are less (Sky's top speed is 20Mb), PC to PC transfer is getting important for more people now.
