I got my new (and broken) one today. Cracked it open to see if there was anything interesting. The ports are indeed 100Mbit only, as the two modules inside show after a quick google.

There is also a 4 pin (Vcc, Rx, Tx, GND) connector on the inside. Overheating issues, budget model without a fan? We'll see.

I screwed it back together since I couldn't find anything physicall wrong with it but if anyone wants pictures of it I'll open it up tomorrow and snap a few.

Could this be a sign of better things to come? Maybe fibre from sky is not too far down the tunnel.

I am wanting one of these from Sky, however they say they're not available to buy as an 'upgrade' yet. The question is, I can get one from ebay, but would I need to manually configure the user name and password, as I believe they come preconfigured, can I access this info on the routers firmware ?

I would hold off if I were you. These are getting some bad reports and are not fully N. They appear to be being replaced by the 2504N, which is reputably N standard. I don't think these have appeared on eBay yet.

Thanks for the advice, do you know if I get one off ebay eventually if I can manually change the user name and password ? I just need a wider range as its not covering my whole house properly with the D link.

Have you considered piggybacking a 2nd router instead?

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB

To do that you would have to flash it to Standard firmware and this would in fact, make it a non Sky router. I am not sure that the new Sagemcom routers can be flashed yet.

As Scubbie says you can easily add another router, capable of Wireless N, to your existing router. These can be got for around 20 brand new, from retailers.

Thanks for the advice, I am not all that computer literate really and have tried adding a second modem upstairs but other than plugging it in and accessing the router config page I was baffled by science, if anyone has an easy 'how to' guide on this I would really appreciate it. I am using a Sky D Link router and a secondary Belkin router to create the network if that helps ?? Thanks

The guide in this thread was intended to be ready for most levels of knowledge, not just experts.

I asked a friend who isn't too comfortable with computers and she was able to successfully follow it.
