      Connection dropout during downloads

Hi, I have been with Sky for about 3 months now, although I've had broadband connections for a long time and used many routers. I am using the router provided by Sky - one of the Netgear ones. I am not using any wireless connectivity (except for occasional browsing on my phone).

The problem: I have noticed that when I am downloading at speed, my connection drops. The downloads halt, the yellow exclamation mark on my network connection icon on Windows appears, and after a few seconds, an amber light comes on on my router. It's the light that displays if you are connected to the internet. Rebooting the router fixes the issue, but resuming the download will often recreate the issue, sometimes for hours before things start working in a stable manner.

I first noticed it with peer-2-peer downloads, but it also happens when I download Windows Updates, and when visiting speedtest.net.

It doesn't happen all the time - some times it works ok for days before occurring again.

The only other thing in the mix is my computer is connected to the router via network-over-power, although it is the router that seems to crash when the problem happens.

Any ideas on what is wrong or how to fix it? I couldn;t find any posts with the same problem as me.

It looks like your line may be generating errors. Post your stats please.

Nothing too bad there, provided your noise margin is not dropping too much. You could try downloading Router Stas Lite and running it for 24 hours to see how your noise margin is behaving.
