Help with my sky router please
Please can you help me.
I have sky broadband with a Netgear DG834GT Router. I'm having problems with connection. It works fine through the ethernet cable but cannot find the wireless aspect to it and so will not link to my laptop.
It also won't connect to my iPhone because of the wireless loss.
I have checked the router and it seems the right lights are on. On the laptop, the wireless connection switch is on and it normally works from where the computer is.
Please can you help.
Andy.

Re: Help with my sky router please
Could you log into the router and check your WiFi settings?
In case you're not familiar with this, type the following in your browser:
192.168.0.1
When asked, the Username is 'admin' and password is 'sky'.
Towards the bottom of the screen is your Wireless details, they should read similar to this:
Wireless Port
Name (SSID) SKY12345
Region Europe
Channel 1
Wireless AP enable
Broadcast Name enable
In the example above you would be looking for 'SKY12345' as you WiFi name. It should match what is underneath your Sky router.
If anything is wrong, click on the 'Setup' tab and make any changes here.

Re: Help with my sky router please
thanks scubbie.
the details in that section are all correct, with the channel as 6 which corresponds to the channel on the bottom of the router. All the lights on it look like they are the right ones and are green so I'm really confused.

Re: Help with my sky router please
Ok, the channel number isn't critical at this point.
On the 'Setup' tab, could you check the the following options are correctly set:
Wireless Network
Mode: g & b
Wireless Access Point
(Ticked) Enable Wireless Access Point
(Ticked) Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)
(Unticked) Wireless Isolation
Security Options
WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) is selected
Next select the link beside 'Wireless Station Access List' and ensure that the box next to 'Turn Access Control On' is unticked.

Thanks again.
All those are correct as well!
Getting frustrated as I hope it's nothing too simple.

Re: Help with my sky router please
Really sorry to be a pain but I've fixed it! I have a device that sends my sky signal to another tv and that was interfering with the signal..I turned that off and it now works.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Help with my sky router please
Well done.
It might be possible to get the sender working at the same time as the router by changing the channel number to 12 or 13 and repositioning the sender.
