It might be very sticky. Try turning your router off this tonight and see what it is in the morning.

You may be able to do it by clicking the Sky Test link on the Router Status page. If that does not work, click the Connection Staus Link. I have just changed mine twice in the last few minutes using this method. That was on PPPoA, it might not work on MER.

There's a thread about the sticky IP address problem if you are switched to MER here:_ http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...ynamic-ip.html

The current solutions seem to be leave the router off overnight, or use a non-sky router on PPPoA.

That is why I got my Netgear router out and set up. Simples

Another reason is the D-Link does not seem to loop back.

      Re: New D-Link DSL-2640S Firmware Sky_2.04?

If you want to use your own router, then take a loot around on-line.

Some people have gone for routers whose chipsets match the Sky equipment, whilst others have gone for routers that have other features of interest.

Try to go for one with WiFi n if you will benefit from this. GBit LANs are nice if you transfer files between your computers/network storage, but currently pointless for improving Internet speeds if you are using ADSL or ADSL2+. Of course you would also need GBit LAN cards to benefit too.

Yes, even a change of 1 digit changes your address. When I experimented with the Sky Test, the last octet changed from 31 to 34 then to 35. I think each exchange or area has a block of addresses assigned to it, so you will nearly always get the same numbers in your first 3 octets. That is what I have noticed recently. Previously all of the last three octets could change when the address was changed, but that does not seem to happen now.
