I've not had any custom rules on the firewall on this router so can't compare. Just tried to add one now though and it went through fine.

I had an issue on 1.11 where my uptime stats for WLAN would reset. Not had it up till now on the new firmware.
Yes, that is a newer adsl firmware version than mine.

I've only had a very quick fiddle with the firewall settings on 1.11, but noticed a few issues, including:-

You can't set up more than one rule for any service name, so if you want to forward a port depending on the source IP address, you'd have to create another service with a different name for the same port! I don't think it even gave a meaningful error message.

If you create an inbound rule, and try to set a WAN address, you get an error that the start wan address has to be in the LAN address range

If looks to me like they tried to copy the Netgear router functionally, but made a real pigs ear of it, and either didn't bother to test it, or decided to release it before it was ready.

Cool. Does the adsl firmware version make any difference in performance?

You would be disappointed to know it's still the same.
The error message says 'Add incoming IP filter named testing failed. Status: 9003.' where 'testing' is the name of the custom service.

It looks like this has been fixed.

It might I suppose. I'd hope it will contain a fix for the connection stability issues that apparently affected a few sky users whose connections were using fast path on some BT msans .

      Well, that's something, I suppose

      Thanks for confirming that.
So it's definitely a firmware issue.

      Re: New D-Link DSL-2640S Firmware Sky_2.04?

Yep, my D-Link router does the same even with 2.04 too:

      System Up Time: 296:35:04
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN MER 11195453 17450044 0 2011 2011 296:33:54
      LAN 18441889 12238648 0 2077 2011 296:35:05
      WLAN 511193 291373 0 279 135 73:25:14

      ADSL firmware version A2pD030i.d22k here.

The uPnP polling issue has been fixed with 2.04 though as my HP printer now quite happily runs on my network with uPnP enabled on the router. With the previous router firmware version, the printer would crash unless I turned uPnP off.

Ah, mines A2pD030g.d22k - I flashed my d-link a few days ago with Sky firmware built from the "Sky_1.11" source code released by D-link, so the GPL release must contain an older version of the adsl firmware.

      Re: New D-Link DSL-2640S Firmware Sky_2.04?

I think my D-Link is shafted anyway, despite the below quote. When i get a call about 25% of the time my router still re-syncs. Last night i rang sky and ended up after 40 minutes just saying sorry to the nice lady and i would just put up with the fault, i am sick of jumping though hoops trying different filters, phones, cables etc. The line from my house to the exchange is now physicallly different and the problem started the exact same day the D-Link arrived in my house. 6Mbit on a 4km line on G.DMT pretty much says my line is in fine fettle to me ill be honest.

I even offered to buy a new router off Sky but they wouldnt sell me one as the D-Link is in warranty, so its a no win situation.

      Noise Margin 7.2db 8.0db

For a near 4km line length i reckon thats pretty ok (on ADSL2+ it was 300kbps slower)

With some luck the D-Link will now be solid and i might get this firmware LOL

As mine still hasn't upgraded itself, I've now rebuilt the Sky_1.11 firmware using the files I dumped off the router when I first hacked it. I then upgraded the ADSL Firmware to A2pD032b.d22k , enabled telnet, and got rid of the really annoying dnsspoof process, which is what redirects your browser to the router's web server when the connection drops, messing up the browser's and the PC's DNS cache in the process. Unfortunately it has still got all the 1.11 bugs, but it should be an improvement from the version on the recovery cd.
