Most of the D-Link DSL-2640S came with an earlier version of the firmware on the CD.

The D-Link's will eventually get the latest firmware.

Not sure if you will be interested, but It is possible to revert back to the earlier firmware (that is on the CD that came with the router).

      Read the below:

Instructions for Flashing The DSL-2640S - only necessary if the firmware has upgraded to Sky_2.04.

Warning: flashing the router could render it permanently inoperative if anything goes wrong, so proceed at your own risk

If you wish to do this, disconnect the phone line from the router, reset the router to its factory defaults (you may wish to back-up your current settings first), then power it up with the reset button held in until the "tick" led starts flashing. This puts the router into recovery mode, you can then use the dlink DSL-2640S recovery utility included on the CD to flash the router. Or if you don't have Windows, you can access the recovery user interface by browsing to http://192.168.1.1, after first configuring your PC with a fixed IP address (eg 192.168.1.100), as the router doesn't run a DHCP server while in recovery mode.

Do not turn off the power while the firmware is being written to the router.

If the Sky router is unable to connect to Sky after downgrading, reset it to its factory defaults for the downgraded firmware, by holding in the reset button in for 10 seconds when it is already powered up.

I want to go forward rather than back (already extracted my username and password). My router doesn't seem to want to update!

My router doesn't seem to want to update!
Try resyncing it once a day for a few days, that may pick up the update.

That's part of the problem - my line is too stable.

All the better! Just switch off the routers power for a minute then on again, that makes sure it does a resync with the server.

The reason I mentioned what I said in my earlier post was because you said:

So does anyone have the 2.04 file?
With you not saying why you wanted the 2.04 file. I thought you might have bricked your router, and offered the instructions on how to put an earlier firmware on it, thus unbricking it.

      Sorry if I wasn't clear.

My router actually seemed to reboot itself earlier this morning - ironic after I was going on about how stable my line is - though it seemed to be the router rather than the link as WAN/LAN/WLAN all rebooted. Unfortunately, no firmware update though.
