      D-Link Router Unstable

Although this D-Link has great wireless range and a great sync i am tempted to put the Sagem back on. The D-Link can't hold sync for love nor money and reboots a good 3 or 4 times a day, the noise margin seems to only ever go down and not really recover in the day. I rebooted it at midnight last night where i knew the noise margin would be poor and yet the router still felt the need to lose sync at 3am this morning

This suggests DLM may be running.

Mel's Notes: Sky D-Link DSL-2640S Router Password Extractor.

Download the app in the above link and, with the d-link connected, take the detailed stats after a few hours up-time if possible.

I've just got a DLink router due to random loss of Broadband, I'd had my Netgear for 6 years so they swapped it to rule it out as the problem.

I downloaded the SW from Mels notes and noticed that when the line goes it's the download SNR that drops like a rock but the upload SNR stays about the same.

Is there any SW out there that can take repeated stats over a period of time and log them to a text file?

      Cheers.

      Yes.

      RouterStats -Lite

It logs on to specific pages within routers. Although my specific model isn;t listed, I was able to use an older model to gain access. I'd suggest a similar approach for yourself.

The is also a similar tool that has been developed for some of the Sky routers and is available on this forum.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

      Re: D-Link Router Unstable

As much as I would love to take the credit, I gained the program from another post on this forum. I can't find that particular post/thread now though.

I trust it is working well now though.

Credit where it's due, you replied to the thread and made life much easier for me.

Yes thanks, logging away quite merrily and just caught one of the drop outs I'm suffering from
