Flashing firmware probs
Ok, so (as per my other thread) I have got Sky to up my speeds back to almost what they were.
However, I am still far from happy with the Sagem router and wanted to go back to a Netgear so I can manually tweak my settings as required.
So, I got a DG834GT, but the login credentials are expired. So I flashed it with the stock Netgear firmware using the recovery utility, did a hard reset, and input the username / password from my Sagem. So far, so good, router connects and works 100%.
Then I flash it with the latest utility firmware from here, DG834GT-1SKUKS.V1.03.87.CU3.04.img, and the username and password reset themselves to the old (expired) credentials.
Am I doing something (blantantly obvious no doubt) wrong?
Cheers peeps

Re: Flashing firmware probs
Yes, the CU firmware is designed for the Sky firmware and is in fact Sky firmware modified by James to allow extras not included with the original firmware.. Using it will put the original firmware back on the router, hence your problems.

Re: Flashing firmware probs
You should be able to modify the username and password on the sky dg834gt without replacing the sky firmware if you wish.
Enable telnet::- Mel's Notes: Sky Netgear DG834GT-1skuk
Telnet into the router, and enter the following commands into your telnet client console, substituting YOURUSERNAME and YOURPASS.
nvram set pppoa_username=YOURUSERNAME
nvram set pppoa_password=YOURPASS
The changes should survive rebooting/powering off the router, but not a full factory reset.Last edited by fuzzy logic; 28-01-11 at 09:35 PM.
