New connection
How slow are sky at sending routers for new connections? I put in for migration on 31/12 and was given today as the go live. The order tracking in the portal says today but I have received nothing at all from Sky - no router, no letter, nothing.
Is this normal? My concern is that I can't be home to take the package today or tomorrow so if they don't leave it somewhere and they do the switch today then I could be without Internet until some time on Thursday - that would not be good considering the amount of time they've had to send the router.
So, any thoughts on whether this is normal? It wouldn't matter with most ISPs as I could use my own router, but not with Sky.

Re: New connection
Quick update. My Internet has today gone off and no router.
Have phoned sky. Apparently because I had Internet with them over 3 years ago they didn't send a new router assuming I still had the old one to hand. I had problems with the old one and got rid of it long ago. They have agreed to send a new router and it will be "3 to 5 days" - so no Internet until it arrives.
All this would have been fine if they had told me that I would need to use the old router - I could have contacted them to tell them I didn't have it. However, the emails confirming the order stated that the router would be sent through - so I never thought any more about it.
So, in case anyone is thinking of coming back to sky broadband after a break (especially a long break) don't assume they are going to send a router, no matter what the emails say.

Re: New connection
I have not quite joined sky but on the 14th I should go active for the first time.
If you had your old details from the Sky router (I know it is against T&C) could you have used your own router until the replacement router arrived even though the user details were 3 years old?
I guess you could have but would be interesting to have it confirmed.Last edited by BritBrat; 11-01-11 at 04:28 PM.

Re: New connection
So long as the old router wasn't blocked the logins would work fine

Thanks, another good reason to know the details.

Re: New connection
Sorry, couldn't respond before as no internet connection...
I have to assume that the id and password are indeed the same. I had got it out of the router before but after 3 years I don't have it now - never expected to need it again... But then that was the main reason of my post here - to warn people that coming back they may not get a new router automatically.
