Which replacement router from Sky ?
Hi, Does anyone know which router Sky is sending out as replacements now ?
I don't mind spending the £28+p&p on a replacement, but my DG934G is all over the place on my line (especially at night) and it's driving me crazy.
I was hoping I could get a new D-Link as it's Broadcom based and should therefore be more stable on my noisy line.
Can a replacement be ordered online or would I have to ring up and go through tech support ?
thanks
Alex

Re: Which replacement router from Sky ?
Replacement can only be done over the phone as far as I know.
In regards to which router you would receive, it's really luck of the draw. Sky haven't sent out the phase 1 netgears in a long time and I don't believe they send many phase 2 netgears these days either. It's going to be either a d-link or sagem. If it's a full delivery (dsl cable, psu, router, filters etc.) then it's likely to be a d-link.

Re: Which replacement router from Sky ?
I've read a lot of people are getting the new D-Link. I received the D-Link when I got Sky broadband in September. I am pleasantly surprised with its performance. Many report the wireless range on the D-Link to be better than the other Sky routers. I found the D-Link gives a better wireless signal in my house than my Netgear DG834GT.
My mother and father in law got Sky broadband last week and they received a Sagem router, so it would appear now that its either Sagem or D-Link routers that Sky are sending out.Last edited by Tal71; 25-11-10 at 09:42 PM. Reason: Add more information

Re: Which replacement router from Sky ?
Thanks everyone, I'll give Sky a ring tonight.
The DG934G is reporting 3-4db changes in downstream attenuation when rebooted, so I think it's on it's way out.

Re: Which replacement router from Sky ?
I have just had a replacement router, and its a Sagem, (same as the duff one)
So it does seem that its luck of the draw what you get sent.

Yes, unfortunately got the Sagem, so have phoned back and specifically requested the D-link, not sure if it will be, but we'll see.

Why do you want the D-Link?

Re: Which replacement router from Sky ?
Got a new Dlink free of charge a couple of months back. Had problems with the original Netgear, so was using my own (old Dlink) for a couple of years, but that packed up. Refused to pay for a new router and threatened to cancel - hence the free replacement.
Been having no end of problems with my broadband, so they sent a Sagem last week.
Found the problem was due to the cabling outside and not the router, so now I have a new Dlink & Sagem. Which one is the better?
