Re: Which replacement router from Sky ?
Sky called yesterday saying that an Openreach engineer would be round to mark out for the dig team. He didnt show up and I'm not at home today (knowing my luck, he'll call round today).
Sky have applied a different profile and now my connection has stabalized. albeit at a "slow" 4094 downstream which is giving me around 3Mbps and upstream is something around 400kbps, giving me 0.3Mbps. Although this may not sound too bad, performance is not quite up to scratch for me working from home over a VPN - certainly not good enough for VOIP calls.
The new profile has eliminated all of the critical errors (which were causing the instability), but I am still getting on average around 1,000,000 forwarding errors every 2 minutes.
Anyway, hopefully things are going to start to move and with any luck I'll be back up to decent speed in the coming weeks.

Don't worry about the FECs, they're not too important. I've seen cases where Openreach have had to get permission from local councils to dig and such, but hopefully your case will progress quickly.
