      Dyndns.org help

      Hello all.

I'm running sabnzbd+ to download away from the pc. It runs a webpage on port 8080 which I have port forwarded. I can reach the webpage fine from the internet when i point to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxx:8080/sabnzbd. However my ip keeps changing which is annoying.

So I've signed up to Dyndns and put my details into the router (I'm guessing this logs in every now and then to update the ip if it changes?). However I can't seem to load up the webpage. xxxx.Dyndns.org:8080/sabnzbd doesn't work. Nor does it if i remove the :8080 bit.

      Any ideas anyone?
      Thanks

      Re: Dyndns.org help

your address should be dyndns_username.dyndns.org. If you enter it in your home browser it will bring up your router login page as you can't see internet pages from within your own network.

      Re: Dyndns.org help

      1. Are you sure you're registered as username.dyndns.org and not one of their other domains?
      2. Have you checked that your IP address at https://www.dyndns.com/account/services/hosts/ is correct?
      3. You are only entering http://username.dyndns.org and not putting www. before it?

      Re: Dyndns.org help

Thanks for the help guys, Ive fixed the problem.

It was actually working all along but I was trying to access it from my iPhone while connected to the wifi. I read on another forum that it wasn't possible to access something from within a loop. Basically you can't leave your internal network, access Dyndns and then return into the network. It's breaking the loop or something (I'm not network savvy, so this may have been obvious, but it wasn't to me!).

If I turn wifi off and connect to exactly the same address I was trying before but over a 3G connection it worked fine. Same goes for any other computer connected to the net outside of my LAN, they can all access it fine. But computers on my LAN can't access it.

      Thanks again.

      Re: Dyndns.org help

      Hi,

I have just recieved my sky router D-Link DSL-2640S and I am having trouble accessing cameras and other such things that are setup using dyndns when connected to my home network using the wireless. I have just changed over from BT where I had the home hub 2.0 and it was all setup on there fine, I could access my cameras and transmission from inside and outside my home network no problem. The sky router will let me connect to them from outside my network but not inside, does anyone have any ideas how I could get round this?

Access them internally using their local IP addresses.
There is no p in Thomson.

      Re: Dyndns.org help

My camera software is all setup with dyndns, and I would have to change the settings everytime I'm at home or out and about. The software does not let you put both ip and dyndns in at the same time unlike plex which does. The annoying thing is my bt home hub worked both ways once I had opened the ports but the sky router is not acting the same way and I was wondering if I'm missing something.

      Re: Dyndns.org help

What you could do is look at changing the sign-on settings on your BT router so that it can sign into your Sky BB. This would get around this problem quickly. Technically this is against Sky's T&Cs, but many members do use non-sky routers.

I'm not sure how this is possible on the BT HomeHub. There are a few techie pages on the web that might help.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB

      Re: Dyndns.org help

Great idea, I got my username and password from my sky router but the bt home hub 2.0 is too locked down and I can't access it enough to entre the details. I'm a bit reluctant to buy another type of router incase I have the same issues with the dyndns.
