Sagem F@st Router and HTC Wildfire
Hi
I have just bought an HTC Wildfire smartphone and I've been trying to use it to connect to the internet via my Sky Broadband, but I just cannot get it to work. Here is a brief summary of what is happening...
The Router is a Sagem F@st 2540 and is setup with WEP to start with. The Wireless led is lit as well.
The Wildfire can see my SSID, along with quite a few BT SSID's as well. Strangely, I can connect straight away to any BT SSID that happens to be "Open", even with poor signal. But to connect to my Sagem that is only 12 inches away seems impossible.
Does anyone have any idea, or perhaps settings to change, that will let me connect?
Thanks in advance
Terry

Any reason why you're using WEP? I've got a Desire and it connects fine with works WEP and home WPA2 networks

Re: Sagem F@st Router and HTC Wildfire
Hi
No particular reason, except that WEP is easier to configure and the plan was to use WPA when I get it connected.
Obviously, using WEP isn't stopping the Wildfire connecting. It's either some setting in the Wildfire or some setting in the Sagem.
I mean, as I mentioned before, it will connect to an open BT router, so why will it not connect to the Sky Sagem?

Have you tried making the Sagem 'Open', ie disable the security all together? If it works it means you are using the wrong key

Re: Sagem F@st Router and HTC Wildfire
Hi everyone
I've now managed to get it working.
For some reason, either the Wildfire or the router didn't like WEP security.
And likewise for Open or no security.
But when I tried WPA-PSK security, and entered the Network Key supplied by Sky, it worked straight away.
So miracles do happen now and then.
And finally, thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions.

Your next move should be to change the default passkey to one of your own. 8-63 of any of the characters you can type with your keyboard except spaces.
