Not seeing Router after XP Re-installation
Sorry in advance folks for what are probably going to be some really silly questions.
I've had to reinstall XP on my old Dell, used the original XP software & now I don't have a thing on it.
The (Netgear) router is fine, I'm connected via wireless at the mo from a different computer but I can't get into it from the Dell (using 192.168.0.1).
In Network connections all I am seeing is the 1394 connection which is running fine (speed of 400.0 mbps, status & duration active) but no LAN.
Excuse me for being completely dim here but I am right in assuming I'm not getting anywhere with the router because there's no LAN connection on this PC?
Thanks & sorry again.

Re: Not seeing Router after XP Re-installation
You will need to install all the Dell drivers for things like LAN Networking. Go to the Dell site and search for your exact model number then download all the drivers and install them.

Re: Not seeing Router after XP Re-installation
I'm really interested to see this message and response as we have exactly the same problem having re-installed XP on a computer with a new hard drive, having had hard drive failure diagnosed. The router works fine, connecting to the internet and allowing wireless access for the laptop I'm using now. However, downloading Dell drivers hasn't worked - the computer won't open the program. We're beginning to assume that a faulty hard drive was not the whole problem but are reluctant to spend money on further diagnostics on a 6 year old computer. Any advice gratefully received.

What does "the computer won't open the program" mean? Any error messages?
How are you transferring the drivers to the PC? If using a CD try with a USB stick.

Re: Not seeing Router after XP Re-installation
Also double check to see if you have a Dell CD ROM with any support software on it, such as the drivers. If you go into the Device Manager to do this.
Click: <Start> <Control Panel> <System> <Hardware> <Device Manager>
Select any items listed with a '?' or as 'Unknown device' and select 'Install Driver' or 'Update Driver'.
Allow you computer to search the CD ROM in order to install any drivers.
