I am thinking of upgrading my Sky Netgear to get improved wireless range through the house.

      No they don't currently.

You could buy your own and piggyback it to the Sky router, this will only improve things if the rest of your wireless cards are 'n' class.

I believe some of their staff are trialling it at the moment.

Any idea if existing Sky Broadband users will be able to upgrade to it or is it "new customers only" ?

      thanks

As far as I know, existing customers will be able to upgrade to it. I'm not sure if new customers get the n router free, it's all rather unofficial at the moment.

Re: Does Sky have a wireless N router?

I have been poking around the internet wanting a wireless N access point to piggy back on the sky router because of the lack of wireless N availability right now.

Any ideas on how long you might expect this to take to become available ?

      : )

Re: Does Sky have a wireless N router?

I'm currently in the market for a new 'n' class router due to having more and more wireless devices in the house, if sky bring one out then I will save some cash and finally my Ipad will be ideal when streaming.

What are you streaming that you cannot do with the original router?

Re: Does Sky have a wireless N router?

I'm also new to Sky Broadband.

Unfortunately during the "hard sell" by Sky I was promised I would receive a wireless N router as I said that if it wasn't an N I wouldn't be interested in broadband from Sky and would go elsewhere.

My broadband went active about a week ago and as expected a wireless G router turned up.

So Sky are a bunch of lying B**********S.

I have spoken to at least 3 customer support people who assured me that if I was not satisfied I would be able to have my username and password to use my own router... another lie obviously.

I have ordered a Belkin Wireless N router which I now intend using as an access point until someone finds a crack for the new D-Link.

Not that I am unhappy with the D-link at all... It is a pretty decent piece of kit and I get a really good signal on all my devices.. pc, itouch, laptop etc etc. I'm only changing because the D-Link doesn't seem to like having any sort of priority on gaming or streaming media and there is a massive slowdown/latency when two pc's are used at the same time (mine and my wifes).

Here's to hoping that someone will work out the crack to get the username/password out of the D-link pretty soon.
