Recovering a DG834GT without the recovery tool
Hi,
I've searched high and low for the answer to this, but with no success.
I recently tried flashing my router to the Netgear firmware (I moved to O2 and wanted to use it with them, as the O2 router is barely more useful than a brick), using the recovery tool from within Vista on my laptop - as you'd expect, I got the Blue Screen of Death (unfortunately, the guide I was reading prior to this neglected to mention about problems with Vista!).
I cannot 'see' the router on any other computers, nor can I see it from within Windows XP on my laptop. I can however, see it on XP running via MS Virtual PC on the laptop - unfortunately, the recovery tool doesn't go beyond the following screen.
Prior to attempting to flash, I did not turn telnet access on (or do anything else out of the ordinary).
Is there any way of trying to talk to the router other than trying to use the recovery tool?

Try running the Recovery and Update tools in Vista using XP compatibility mode. Right click exe, select Properties, then Compatibility tab. When running, right click and choose Run as Administrator.
