It is not quite a simple as that. The WDS mode must be enabled on both routers or it will just not work. This little tutorial will give you an idea what is required.

If you are able to access WDS on both routers it should work. I have read that encryption is a drawback with WDS, as it will not work with WPA.
Its down to Sagem/Netgear not having compatable WDS. I have tried bridging 2 Sagems and it works, and ofcourse 2 x Netgears work...

Encryption isnt really a problem at first as you shouldnt be using it until you are completely set up 100% but its true that WDS does not like WPA so you are stuck with WEP (altho with mac filtering, turning off broadcast SSID and setting up WEP will deter most idiots with a laptop and a copy of netstumbler)

Like I said tho, I would love someone to prove me wrong and get it setup

this isnt about setting up a repeater, but setting up a bridge as the Sagem only supports Bridge Mode.

      nice guide tho

The tutorial was just to point out to the OP that it was not just a case of turning one of the routers into some sort of super adapter. He will not even have access to the WDS with Sky firmware on the Sagem.

Re: Help configuring Netgear DG834GT as wireless repeater/bridge with Sky Sagem route

I'm just wondering why you need WDS? While WDS is great where supported, can't you simply set up the Netgear as a wireless bridge repeater where WDS isn't supported? I've seen solutions to this as the DG834 range does support bridging mode. Do an internet search for wireless repeaters using Netgear DG834s.
