Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix
Hi, my stats are rubbish again since my line was recalibriated. My connection lasts about 15 mins so I need to do the downloads, speed test, reboot router to fix it again. :-)

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix
Hi guys, having a bloody nightmare,
for the past 3 days my connection has just been randomly cutting off. I'm not seeing an internet connection when i got to show all connections then it suddenly comes back 10 mins later.. i keep doing a setup new network and sometimes it comes back sometimes it doesnt. I find however that if i pull out the cable from the router and put it back in i get my connection back!?!?! When i restart my pc it also comes back.. could it be an issue with my router?
Its been on 24-7 for months, had it since November.
PLease advise.

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix
I'm no expert - are any of us?
These are my condensed thoughts.
1. Turn off UPnP.
2. If you don't use the wireless bit, turn of DHCP, which is in "LAN IP setup".
3. Use Mosseywell's Bounce program.
I think what's happening here is that when you don't use the broadband to recieve or send data, for a while, the signal switches to other users, possibly because Sky's bandwidth is too stretched. By using the Mosseywell Bounce thingy, your modem checks up with two seperate web sites every few seconds, thus keeping your line alive. Also, that auto-reset is very useful. Thank you Mosseywell if you're reading this.

Was that your post TDB?
I think Sky's bandwidth is too stretched, so we're all suffering disconnections.

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix
Yes, posted that as I had a few disconnections over the weekend and was wondering if line had errors on it as I looked at the stats but not too sure what they all mean. I was also trying the engineers test socket (Mosswell Bounce off) which had no difference at all in noise margins.
I fired up the laptop this am and connection speeds were constant at 15323 downsteam but download speed had dropped from 13232 to 198 kbps.
Was getting all the stats together to put on here and ran a last speed test and it had gone back to normal
P.S - your noise margin downsteam looks a bit lowOne day you are the pigeon, but most days just the statue ...

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix
Tell me about it!
The reason is that my BT wiring is over thirty years old so instead of just connectors 2 and 4 being wired up, mine also have 3 and 5 (the old bell loop) and 1 and 6 which are so old that today's BT engineers never knew what they were used for! I'll get it sorted one day. In the meantime, my d/l noise sometimes drops to 3.2!

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix
Don't you just disconnect the old bell loop ???
As I said earlier, my NM averages 7 - 8 db but I noticed it drops sometimes so I tried the test socket but made no difference at all. My BT socket is not too old as I had cable phone & fax lines but reverted to BT and they fitted socket in hall plus we have no extensions so router is about a metre above the main BT entry point.
Have kept the Bouncer on today and it's gone red a few times but nothing too serious. One day you are the pigeon, but most days just the statue ...
