send an email to access@skyuser.co.uk its an autoresponder, and it will send you the password within a few mins.
To accomodate everyone we have done this so it is not openly discussed

I would just like to add that to date, that there is no improved solution than that offered on the first post of this thread to sort problems like this out. It is an easy method, it works, and does not involve any commands being sent to the router or anything else that is against sky's t&c's.
No one has had more trouble getting a stable connection than me and this solutions has worked for me and lots of others. Try it before entering the tec section.
If this solution doesn't work then it usually requires a call to sky cs. But please also make sure you read threads regarding your wireless setup etc as well as this solution requires that you have a working connection by it is not stable and you get loss of speed in the eveningsLast edited by dingdong; 01-10-06 at 07:34 PM.

Hi,
Great info on this forum, you should start calling this Sky Broadband technical support the fat lot of good Sky themselves are.
Have just tried your fixes (UPnP, Auto 108) listed here and so far so good. Have had router for a few weeks now and have only just had chance to really test it out. Have been reading a lot of the info here and on digital spy and is really the only source of good techincal info. How could Sky balls this up so stupendously. Too much demand and too little knowledge/staff to cope. (Remind anyone of NTL in its early days????)
Current stats are:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6804 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 42.0 db 24.8 db
Noise Margin 7.3 db 9.3 db
NM was at about 4-5 earlier. Will see how well it goes and let you guys know if it solves the problem permanently.
Just have one question,
Have all the problems with the router been with the Wireless side or are similar problems occuring with wired. Been trying to find some patterns with the problems everyone is having. By my thinking if router was dropping ADSL connection through low NM then both types of LAN connection would be affected however most people are reporting that router freezes/connection drops while using WLAN on their PCs. Would really like to hear if anyone has had similar problems while on wired LAN connection.
Again, great forum and thanks for everyones input. It has been enlightening.

My Sky router would totally lock up, no internet and no access to router admin through wired/wireless lan, does exactly the same on my own dg834GT, which was fine with my previous supplier. Now running with a Linksys router and had no problems over the last 2 days, will probably stop working now i have said that

I know it very tempting to use soemthing that works i was in a similar situation myself. Whilst I AM of the opionion that there is not an immediate problem in doing this (based all all the other troubles that sky are having i hardly think they will go looking for trouble) you could get disconnected is that a risk you want to take? Surely a better method is to try and get what you have been sent working, i managed it and if you look through the old posts no one had more trouble than me.

Just wanted to add my thanks to dingdong for putting the guide together and to all who moderate and help run this site, despite the politeness of the sky staff I have spoken to they simply arent well trained enough to be able to sort out problems like this. So thank god for skyuser.co.uk!
I had the disconnections and slow dows every couple of hours since I received mine. Having gone through this process my connection has remained stable for a total of 40 hours so far so thank you!
Still not convinced its a better set up than my old ntl 4MB line but fingers crossed Sky will eventually iron out the problems.

growvirgin - Glad the resyncing trick did it for you.
For anyone else out there who it did not work for (and believe me I tried night-after-night-after-night since activation at the beginning of Sept)- you are not alone! Also bear in mind that if your connection drops for any reason (e.g. maintenance at the exchange/Sky) you will need to go through the process again.
We can only hope that Sky or Netgear come up with a fix for this in the near future, as it does seem to be a widely encountered problem.
