      Re: Sagem router and VPN

Sorry to ask such a silly question, i'm not familiar with regedit:-(

      I can't see the entry "DisableIkePort500Use=1" anywhere under the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nortel Networks\Extranet Access Client\.

Does the entry need to be added once I've clicked on ......\Extranet Access Client or somewhere underneath that path? Underneath the above path there are a few more folders, one is my NT username for example.

To add it I right click-->new-->????? Is it a string, dword or bin entry?

Once added am I right in saying that the entry should look like:

      Name.................................Type......... ............................Data
      DisableIkePort500Use=......????????............... .............1

      Many thanks in advance

      Re: Sagem router and VPN

I've just had Sky BB (mid) installed yesterday, hit the same issue (Nortel VPN, Sagem router). I just added this reg key, set it to 1 and hey-presto it now works. Thanks all I knew searching here I would get an answer rather than calling Sky support.

Woesh, ot should look like this (I had to manually add it, I'm using v5 of Nortel client):

      Re: Sagem router and VPN

Hi - I seem to be experiencing exactly the same problem with set up today on Sky (I moved from tiscali) with the sagem router and trying to access office VPN using a Nortel Contivity client. (v 04) I have just tried the regedit as described and I still cannot get a connection. Any further ideas from those of you who (clearly) know more than I on getting this to work??!! Thanks

      Re: Sagem router and VPN

As you have posted here I assume you have read this thread? Several members have VNP working on the Sagem, it seems to depend on what client you are using and your ability to configure your OS.

Sky consider VPN to be a business application and they make it very clear in their T & Cs that Sky Broadband is for domestic use only and business and commercial use is specifically banned.

Just got the Sagem and trying to also use it with Nortel Contivity Client V04_65.320. Tried the DisableIkePort500Use registry fix but it still does not work.

Thankfully I have the Netgear DG834GT to go back to which works fine.

Any other suggestions for the Sagem please?

I think that's very short sighted on the part of Sky. As Home Automation ( Home automation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) becomes increasingly popular, the frequency of people wanting to 'log in' to their house to control appliances or check on security etc will increase, and VPN is an obvious choice for enabling this technology.
