      Help connecting PS3 wirelessly

Hi, can anyone help with setting up a wireless connection with the PS3. No matter how I try it will not connect, whether it be a secured connection or non secured.

If I try and set it up manually I get asked for the IP address, router address and primary and secondary DNS, which I don't know what these are.

      Cheers

      Woz

      Re: Help connecting PS3 wirelessly

Go into the network settings, select connection type.

Pick the wireless option, and select 'SCAN', your Sky router will come up.

Go right, select the type of securing setting (check what type this is by logging onto you router http://192.168.0.1).

      Enter the password.

Then test the connection. Hope this helps/works!

      Regards

      Re: Help connecting PS3 wirelessly

The PS3 is known to have a flaky wireless connection. Mine is placed between my 360 and Wii and is the only one of the three to have problems over wireless. I've gone over to homeplugs and wired connection and never looked back...a much better solution and better for streaming HD movies to the PS3.

Forget wireless and go for homeplugs is my advice.

      Re: Help connecting PS3 wirelessly

my sky sagem router will not let me connect wirelessly to my PS3, it will find it sometimes but when i enter all the required info, it gives me some useless DNS error but doesnt tell me why this is!!!! is there anything that i can do? iv tried getting a second router connected but my Sky broadband wont allow it! tried everything i can think of, is there any way i can boost the signal near my console as it is a good distance away from my router, or set up a second router or even just gain access to my original router?
any info would be much appreciated as this is getting tiresome considering wireless connections with the PS3 are supposed to be simple and hassle free!

      cheers, Georgio.

      Re: Help connecting PS3 wirelessly

Had this very same problem and sky broadband support being thier usual waste of time said it was Sony's problem. Wrong prior to using skys router everything worked OK. So it was down to the router but would they listen.
Finally proved it by moving my router right next to the PS3 and it would connect, however it would not now connect to my PC's Hmmm.
Once I had managed to convince sky that it was thier problem it was sorted in two minutes.

Log onto the router through IE as follows

      192.168.0.1

username is ****** (sorry I don't want to upset sky)
password is *** (sorry I don't want to upset sky)

reply with your email and I will tell you

you will see that your channel is set to Auto change this to either 6,11 or 13 whichever works best for you.

I hope this works for you as it did me

      Jon
