Engineer managed to connect Sky Q to my network without info

Just had Sky Q activated in new house after a house move. The Sky Q box is somehow connected to my home wifi network, without me telling him credentials... He also didn't have access to the router as was in another room where I was sat during the install so he didnt touch that. The only possible thing I could think of is that the router is always searching for a Q box and always allows it access to a network, but that would open a security hole.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Hello 2jwd and welcome to the forum.

Do you have a Wi-Fi booster/repeater with a WPS button?
If so could the Sky engineer have had access to it?

If your router is a Sky provided one then I am pretty sure that Sky will have the Sky provided router credentials on file along with all the other information they keep on their customers.
