Change YouTube App Device Name

Hi all,

Is there a way to change the device name for casting to YouTube on the SkyQ boxes.

Obviously having multiple devices named “SkyXXXX” doesn’t make finding the right device easy.

Tried following this article but doesn’t seem to YouTube casting , just Airplay.

From what I can gather from talking to SKY and researching it myself, it is not currently possible to rename the box for Youtube casting with Sky not knowing if the feature will be implemented or not in the future. Personally, I think the box name should change for all connected services and not need to be done one by one.

The article you linked to is about 18 months old but is still valid for anyone wanting to change the box name for airplay. It was recently re-promoted on social media due to the high volume of people ditching the HD boxes in favour of Q and asking for information on casting from iPhones etc.

You can only currently change the airplay name.

Its been mentioned many times on the sky community forum and by trialists, they are aware that customers have asked for it.
