Re: Online Video gets bigger and better on Sky Q
All that is, is mostly reject channels on youtube.
Why not use the youtube app on sky q and search for what you like there, youtube app recommendations is excellent.
Annoys be a bit to think that sky are paying someone out of my sub to watch youtube stuff and then put them in a recommendations list on sky q.
Thought id try copa90 as a football fan and when in the first video they said 'football kits are the best thing about football' I switched off.
The only one of any merit is GINX eSports TV, as that does work well for people, as they provide their own apps on many platforms and linear channels across the world and do get good reviews.

Yep Plex is a wonderful bit of kit and adding that would open a world of fun for Sky and customer.

When I saw the launch I was really surprised that you could stream your own music to the Q TV boxes.
It's always been pointed out that Sky are concerned about copyright issues and allowing people to potentially play 'naughty' material through their boxes might not be something they would wish to promote.
Perhaps the big production companies in the USA don't want Sky to support Plex, but they were happy for Sky to support the music streaming?

Re: Online Video gets bigger and better on Sky Q
You can sideload apps on nowtv including Plex (mainly because its based on a roku), sky not as restrictive as once used to be. They could easily restrict that.
Maybe Elan Feingold has approached sky to get his product on skyq, hes certainly famous for his approaches.
This recent article gives other platforms some hope of moving it away from its current dedcated media server approach.

Not sure sky would want to have plex on sky q and also have to provide semi-support for a home built media server, that I think would be their sticking point for sky q and and the sky q hub as it stands today. Its a bit more than just mirroring photos or using an inbuilt app.
But yes sky do have heavy peer pressure from their commissioning contracts and production companies, that would have to agree it, even for a basic plex app.

Re: Online Video gets bigger and better on Sky Q
Unfortunately the version of plex you can sideload to a nowtv box is a very old version and only because it was open source. The current version is not open source and not available on NowTV (officially or sideloaded).
The old app is very very old and not nice at all.
