      BT Sport

      Does anybody have any idea whether or not, when Sky start to broadcast UHD programmes at whatever point in the future, they will carry 4K BT Sport too?

      It would seem crazy if they didn't but, we live in strange times.

      I doubt it. Why would Sky broadcast a channel that they are in competition with?

      Re: BT Sport

      In the same way they broadcast BT Sport HD before BT rolled out 4K?

      Re: BT Sport

      Don't think they do. Yes I know it is on the Sky EPG but so is BBC and ITV which Sky do not broadcast.
      It will be up to BT whether they want to lease a transponder on an Astra satellite at 28.2 East for a UHD channel.

      Sky have no say whatsoever in this however BT will have to pay Sky if they want to use Sky's encryption system and be listed in Sky's EPG. BT could always develop their own set top box.

      Re: BT Sport

      Currently Sky hasn't indicated when their 4K broadcasts will start, other than to say 'sometime during 2016'.

      Whilst we can speculate about timing things to coincide with the Olympics (BBC & Sky did work on developing 4K together) or the start of the 2016/17 football season, it is anyone's guess.

      As for BT Sport making their 4K content available to Sky customers, that's entirely up to BT PLC, not Sky. Of course it would be pointless them doing it now as the Sky Q Silver boxes need to be updated first to show 4K content. Then it game on!

      On a separate note, I phoned BT to enquire about having Sport on the mini upstairs. To my complete surprise, they gave it me for free, halved the basic monthly subscription and discounted the HD fee for three months. In effect, I have more than I had before and have gone from paying 23.99pm to 9.99pm, rising to 13.99 in three months.

      Re: BT Sport

      A few thoughts on this;

      Not sure BT sport 4k will be there later this year along with the sky 4k channel/s
      Also, BT sport is sent via IP and not via a traditional satellite method, so they will need to change that before then to use on the sky platform.
      Its only one game a week, so would be quite expensive as it is to have a BT dedicated 4k channel that way.

      Not going to see much BBC 4k services anytime soon I'm afraid, recent cuts have probably pretty much stalled that going live for now or like we had in 212 for the olympics
      But the BBC is filming and working heavily with technology.
      If you would like to rad up on their background production, would be worth looking at the BBC academy pages and listening to some of the podcasts;
      BBC Academy - Technology - Broadcast Technology

      The podcast on this page offers is a good background to 4k/uhd from the BBC;
      http://www.bbc.co.uk/academy/technol...60119144803706

      The next big backend change for the BBC is early 2017, when the swap for BBC One HD English regions and BBC Two HD nations (UK) takes place.

      Yes, seen many getting that deal and spoke with a neighbour who has just had sky q installed and takes bt sport.
      One quick call and they are happy now! Got the same deal.
