Re: Sky Suspend All Co-operation with ACS:Law With Immediate Effect
Plusnet have now also suspended co-operation with ACS:Law
Due to serious concerns about the integrity of the processes used to obtain and store private customer information we are suspending with immediate effect the supply of any further customer data to ACS:Law until we are satisfied that weaknesses in these procedures have been addressed.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. Re: Sky Suspend All Co-operation with ACS:Law With Immediate Effect
Well from what I have read, it seems that Sky will give out your details without question as they make a few £££'s from doing so.
Even though I didn't consider it a personal problem as I don't use P2P, I have had to re-think that, as I do obviously use a Sky IP, I am as likely to receive a letter as any other none offender and there seems to be a few protesting their innocence, some with pretty good cause.
Seeing as though even those people in the know don't rate the accuracy/integrity of the way the information is actually collected nobody should think themselves safe, even if the only use the internet for browsing and e-mails, just using a Sky IP could be enough to put you in the firing line.
Cheers Sky, thanks for putting me in a situation where you will happily hand out details for a company to send threatening demands to me without actually checking their facts first!!!

Re: Sky Suspend All Co-operation with ACS:Law With Immediate Effect
the BBC claim the ACS law use thrid party online investigators to collect IP addresses, so what with sites like TPB spoofing IP's routinely and some unknown company looking for IP addresses the whole thing is a farce.
I was waiting for a government minister to get one of the letters which would then really hit the fan.
I would say until ACS gets UKAS acreditation on their systems nobody should be dealing with them, although if I was one of their clients I would be looking at moving my business.I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Re: Sky Suspend All Co-operation with ACS:Law With Immediate Effect
I doubt very much if Sky, or any other ISP for that matter, would give out details of their subscribers without a court order.

Virgin and TalkTalk didn't give out the info, money to be made by some greedy ISP's. Read a lot of detail with regard to Plusnet but very little or no info from Sky.
Have any Sky customers had any contact from/with Sky?

Re: Sky Suspend All Co-operation with ACS:Law With Immediate Effect
What get's me is that If Sky was givien a court order then SKY CANNOT suspend all co-operation with ACS Law it has to be followed through. This has me thinking that there was no court order, but a draft of a court order and when SKY saw that they just basically rolled over for ACS Law.
This has forced me to cancel my contracts with SKY as I am not a happy bunny at the moment. Even if I wasn't on the list or if I was I was not happy the way that SKY have handled this. Apart froma statement there has been nothing from them and it just shows how SKY feel about their customers, which means they don't care.
