Oh well.
HD channels arent worth a tenner a month as it is (hence I dont have them despite having a HD box), this would just cement that position even more.
I would give them an extra tenner for HD + Multiroom, but as it stands I have neither (largely becuase Sky think it's OK to put me on a 12 month contract for multiroom even though I fitted the box myself, and it's on it's last legs).
Their loss..... and if they arent carefull I'll be off to Freesat if they dont stop squeezing customers!

Those are the two HD channels I would lose if this comes into action as I don't have the news mix, not that it bothers me as I don't watch either and wouls till have the SD version of Sky News which seems a bit odd asking people to pay an extra quid when they can still see the channel albeit not in HD.

Re: Rumour: Changes to Sky+HD Subscriptions from 1st October 2010
This is all just rumour at the moment. However, Sky have launched a fairly major push recently to increase HD subscribers on the back of the World Cup. As a new subscriber I would be very narked to discover several channels being withdrawn from the HD package 5 months into the contract - particularly if Sky had been aware of the intended changes when they sold me the contract.

Re: Rumour: Changes to Sky+HD Subscriptions from 1st October 2010
Hmmm, I don't think the quality of sky's HD channels is that good.
The only truly outstanding HD picture I saw on sky was the superbowl a couple of years ago. That really was an awsome image.
Having said that, there are much better quality HD channels image quality wise in mainland Europe. I suppose sky compresses heavily to get as many channels as they can on one transponder.
So, if they try to increase my subscription baring in mind the Government keep telling me I am about to be hit hard, I will decide to do away with the HD facility. SD is fine for me. In my opinion, it's not much worse than sky's HD output image quality wise.
The best HD images I have ever seen are the last world cup on a German channel. It was outstanding.

Yep, two can play at squeezing - even Sky aren't immune in a developing double-dip recession (IMO). I have a Freesat HD PVR/blu-ray player.recorder and if push came to shove, I'd manage fine with BBC HD, ITV1 HD and BBC1 HD (soon).
No Sky contracts here, I'll drop the lot like a stone if they don't watch it! Oh yes.

Re: Rumour: Changes to Sky+HD Subscriptions from 1st October 2010
There is a rumour talk of Virgin Media will bring back sky sports HD in september 2010 as VM doesn't charged customers £10.00 as if that was true, then I am sure ofcom will ask SKY to drop the £10 charge or more customers will move to VM HD once their 12 months contract is up. A big loss in Sky by next year. VM will bring 3D as well and free multiroom with no charge in January 2011. Sky better watch-out as they are going to lose more customers between September 2010 and September 2011.
