Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband
I think you may have missed the point I was making previously.
In an exchange that has Sky's LLU equipment & is Fibre enabled, I would entirely hope that what you have said it mostly true. Sky Fibre customers would benefit from Sky's backhaul and be able to enjoy an Unlimited service, without any peak time throttling.
This mimics the situation with the current Unlimited package.
In an exchange that does not have Sky's equipment, but does have Fibre, I sincerely hope that Sky will invest a little more in the available bandwidth for their Fibre customers.
This is the situation with the Connect package and where things have gone wrong, namely Sky have no choice other than to pay for a BTW product that has insufficient bandwidth for their customers.
PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband
The information that I have been given is that it will only be available to customers on exchanges where Sky have Llu equipment this I would suggest so they have more control over the service and so they do not have to pay BT for seperate bandwidth.
Also worth remembering that many exchanges where Sky are not are areas why customers have long lines or not BT Openreach fibre enabled.
This may only be a temporary policy until they want to gain more new customers but fibre is being seen as retention tool, hence why some customerss on unlimited package on low speeds with high usage are being offered as a special offer

It is £20 for up to 40Mb and reluctantly available anywhere BT has FTTC

No I do not work for Sky directly but do work in Telecoms so do get passed some information and strong supported rumours which sometimes are true but others canteen gossip.
As I say info I have is just Sky enabled areas first and that the product is technically ready to go now just waiting for launch and marketing so expect installs late March or April
