Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband
on the BT infinity site they now have a map of the UK where you can check which exchanges are being done and you can suddenly see that London, Kent, Surrey and Berkshire are getting all the love and everywhere else are getting limited rollouts in the next year.
I am seriously surprised that Stevenage is even on the list for 2011 as we only got LLU providers in 2007 well behind everybody else.I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband
You look on the new map they have London, Kent, Surrey and Berkshire are getting all the love for the forseeable future with a handful of exchanges around the rest of the country.
So they look like they are targetting exchanges to get customers quickly, especially as they have been playing catchup on ADSL2+.I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband
I have been speaking to a BT engineer today, who told me that those lists of the fibre optic roll-out simply show the dates that BT "estimates" they may be looking at the exchanges - no guarantee they will start installing it then. And according to him, the fibre optics will still not come to your door, just to a nearby junction box - copper will still be used for the last part of the route.
