Re: Sky will be looking to run trials of fibre-optic broadband
Perhaps I misunderstood the meaning of your post then .. sorry about that. I took it to mean that you were annoyed that Sky couldn't give a competitive speed (despite not actually having officially launched the package/s yet) and therefore felt forced to consider BT. My point I was trying to make, in my obviously very poor way, was that you were jumping the gun a little as (a) Sky isn't launched yet and (b) no-one can provide you a fibre package until it is physically installed and activated. Until then, there is little point getting het up over it
I do understand that it can be very frustrating knowing that a much better, faster package is just out of reach, and that you're getting very little information at the moment - I would say that Sky is unlikely to know anything more than what BT tell them with respect to fibre roll-out. If BT can't/won't tell you, there's nothing on the samknows site and your cabinet isn't showing on the previously linked spreadsheet, then all you can do is wait and see, unfortunately.
I would imagine, however, that if you have a fibre cabinet already there, next to your normal cabinet, and it just hasn't been activated yet, I can't imagine your wait being a particularly long one.

Who knows, only one way to find out, who is better, BT or Sky?

We'll be burning effigies of you if they don't launch an 80/20 product now!.
Being at uni has its downsides: my step-dad declined the offer of FTTC from Sky. To say I'm not best pleased is an understatement!I'd even let him know about it and to accept such an offer (I was going to pay the difference in cost). So it looks like I'll have to wait until the launch next month now.

It's chatter mate, nothing official, if not at launch then supposedly soon.
Sky are not going to admit anything, as then the opposition know what the plans are.
One thing I learnt tonight was the 40/2 package is for sure going to launch, and the 40/10 is being trialled, and the 80/20 is a possibility, but noone will put their neck on the line and say it is definitely going to happen.
But, all those mentioned are currently being trialled.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

I know. Too much information makes people giddy! At least it's nice to know Sky are already looking at taking their offering one step further, even if it will only be to keep up with the competition but I'm not moaning - truly unlimited data woohoo!

With all this chattering, you should consider getting a warmer blanket
