Re: Operation Save Energy
I dont think its able to deal with that sort of tariff, it seems to be designed around a time specific day/night type tariff. The only way I can think of getting it to accurately cost what you are using is to monitor the ammount of units you use in the period the rates you have quoted apply to then work out the average cost for each unit and input that as the cost per unit. It wont be spot on but should be near enough.

Re: Operation Save Energy
Yes - I can agree with this, ideally it would be battery operated so you dont lose info when unplugged and would make easier hunting. However I'm sat here watching it in my average sized semi and I know roughly whats switched on and what isnt. Maybe for a more investigative hunt we would have to get someone to help with switching etc, but we got them for free and they will save us money so thats not an issue for me.

Re: Operation Save Energy
TBH, they are not designed as an accurate pricing tool, more as an indicator to actual usage, and monitoring of same as you try to reduce it - I think the ££ is there more to give a "value" to the electricity being used, as most people will find it easier to relate to £0.13 per hour, or £60 per month than 1kwh and so on...

Re: Operation Save Energy
Interesting to see the views on the "Current" sky energy monitor
The one they sent me was the Wattson which does have a rechargeable battery backup in the monitor, so moving it around or to the PC is not a problem. The display however is only in watts or £s (+ pretty lights).
The comments about the two rate electricity tariffs are reassuring - I thought it was only me who found them confusing.
I'm with e-on (online) & there are about 5 different tariffs to choose from. Very easy to change but how the h**l anyone ever works out which is the most beneficial is beyond me.

Max.

Re: Operation Save Energy
I'm going to knock up a 3v battery pack with a power lead for it.
I have enough rechargeables etc to do that.

Re: Operation Save Energy
Scary stuff watching the display as the washer starts and stops. My LG HD TV scared the crap out of me and we have 3 of them!
Our oven is electric, jesus wept, not for much longer I can tell you 3 KW argh
Needless to say the Kids are not over impressed. Told them its going to be a 4 way split in the near future. I just cant sustain £110.00 a month direct debit.
So if anything it has done its job by showing the kids (adults ) that power is not cheap.

Re: Operation Save Energy
You want to see it when the shower goes on
This has seriously changed my washing habits - I stink
Seriously I used to stick the shower on and wash me hair ( sorry head before NR & SD say anything ) then leave it running whilst I had a shave then jump in for the shower.
Now its wash head in the sink, shave, then put the shower on.
