Re: Sky Broadband Price Changes - March 2009
The details are a little murky as reported.
The fact that Sky have not outright denied this, but would appear to be taking their time to reply (or construct one) leads me to think that this is going to happen.
From what I can make out,
- The increases will not apply until January 2010 if you already have a Sky HD / Multiroom subscription.
- If you already have Sky Talk.
To be affected, you would have to be a Sky BB customer, with no HD sub or Multiroom, and no Sky Talk subscription.
But I think the best thing to do is wait for the official response.
Like others though, I don't want Sky Talk, or I would have already signed up to it, and if I am affected, I would consider O2 for an extra £2.50 per month, instead of giving an extra £5 to Sky. I have no issues with my BB, but Sky need to realise, O2 are just as cheap, and are increasing their signups according to their latest results. Unlike other ISP's who are physically losing theirs.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Re: Sky Broadband Price Changes - March 2009
Oh well I guess it had to happen sooner or later but £5 in one go is a bit steep. With the yearly price increases on the TV side being with Sky isn't cheap. With this increase I will be paying Sky something like £47 for Mid Broadband and the Sports package with two mixes. I would hate to think what the full TV package and the Max product would cost together.
I am with BT for my phone and with free evening and weekend calls our bills have never been cheaper so I don't see the need to move over to Sky Talk for this.

Yup, and £5 to £10 is a 100% increase.What £0 to £5 is I wouldn't know
I think the 10 month discount would probably take most users out of the minimum period, so it would probably not apply as a get out. You can leave with 1 months notice after the minimum period is up. It would probably only apply to those signing up very recently whose period would be almost up anyway.

Yes no need to panic, we will all need to wait for the written notification, with a bit of luck I might have O2 at my exchange by 2010

Sky use the term "Subscription" to mean the total amount you pay each month not just the bit for BB.

Re: Sky Broadband Price Changes - March 2009
If these prices are right then with this increase it might just get me looking elsewhere. I have been a Sky BB fan as I have a rock solid connection but a 100% increase is taking the mick somewhat. I don't mind a few quid but such a leap in one go it a tad greedy.

There is one thing sure, if they do that they will no longer be able to advertise Free Broadband. Only free broadband with strings, which quite a few already do.

Sky don't sell BB, they sell subscription tv which is the gateway to BB and phone services, as we all know, you have to take TV to get anything else.
