Re: New Router Now Being Despatched
I am disappointed to see that in the latest router it isn't possible to find out what your username and password is. I am not entirely sure that I know why SKY are so insistant that we don't use our own hardware, but it’s one thing about sky I really don’t like. Problem is that sometimes a particular piece of hardware has problems in a particular network scenario, and if you can't try different equipment, you are stuffed. I found this with the "mk 1 router" in that it didn't have some facilities I needed in an existing network. There must be some reason why sky don't want us to have the username and password. I am thinking there is some "theft of service" issue here...

Re: New Router Now Being Despatched
i recon they dont want us using other hardware because they can monitor our sky routers if nessary... or theres a big government conspiracy and when downing street press the red button all the routers come alive...
Most likely to be the 1st one, but probably better reasons behind it.Last edited by normac26; 20-11-07 at 12:03 AM. Reason: SP*

Re: New Router Now Being Despatched
Sky have very kindly sent us a Sagem and a Netgear V2 router to review and for us to use for making tutorials.

Re: New Router Now Being Despatched
I've had a total knightmare with my sky broadband, taken them 6 weeks to get me re-connected.
anywho: - i got one of the routers (Black Sagam things) - its sat under my stairs, collecting dust.
Sky terminated my Broadband due to a active pending canx on my account, that was only discovered in sept, due to me calling up to advise my router had died.
i found another sky netgear router under my stairs, so ripped the sky firmware off the faulty one, put the normal netgear one on (Which solved my issue) and use the username and password out the other netgear router i had, and now it hasnt put a foot wrong.
Sagam router for sale? - any takers? lol ;-)

Re: New Router Now Being Despatched
I'm getting a new Sky router sent to me to replace my old Sky router that was giving me problems...
Which router is suppose to be the better one?
The Sagem or the new Netgear router?

Re: New Router Now Being Despatched
In testing they are both as good as each other, Sagem has slightly better wireless imho.

Re: New Router Now Being Despatched
My parents just got their modem delivered (new grey one, no antenna).
Their line won't be active till this weekend so I'll be goin over to install it then.
We won't be getting sky installed till they finish building our house, which they're behind on
