      Sky Movies Update

      Got this from DS:
We’re glad that our earlier post on the forums helped answer some of your questions about the recent changes to Sky Movies. We appreciate the feedback we’ve received to date as we are always looking to improve our service.

We have been closely monitoring your feedback and suggestions through the forums, as well as via our customer service teams, and as a result we have made further changes to the Sky Movies channels that we believe you’ll like.

We’d like to take this opportunity to answer some more of your questions and let you in on the enhancements to the Sky Movies service.

      Hours
As promised, due to popular demand, we are extending the hours of Sky Sci-fi/Horror and Sky Indie. These channels, currently starting at midday, will from 2nd June commence transmission at 10am.

Many of you have also requested an increase in hours for the Sky Premiere channels. From 2nd June, Sky Premiere will transmit from 10am and feature two extra film transmissions every day. Sky Premiere +1 will also transmit from the earlier time of 11am.

      Channels
Judging by your responses, one of your biggest concerns with the recent changes was the loss of two channels. You’ll be glad to hear that Sky Movies line-up will include two further channels from 31st May, Sky Movies SD1 and Sky Movies SD2. These channels will bring you a mix of the best movies across all genres replicating the existing Sky HD channels in standard definition. This will give Sky Movies standard definition customers access to the same titles as Sky Movies HD customers. If you are subscribed to Pack 1, you will receive Sky Movies SD1; while Pack 2 customers will receive Sky Movies SD2.

      High Definition
In addition, some further good news for Sky HD movie customers. We have now reached agreement with every major Hollywood Studio to transmit their HD content. This will significantly widen the choice of high definition films available to you on Sky Movies.

      Movie deals
We would like to confirm that recent changes to the Sky Movies service resulted from customer feedback and not, as some have suggested, the loss of a contract with one of the Studios. We are in the enviable position of having deals in place with every major Hollywood Studio, and would like to stress, once again, that there has been no reduction in the number of titles available to customers since the changes were implemented.

We hope this update has answered your questions and we hope you enjoy the latest enhancements to the Sky Movies service.

      Thanks

      Re: Sky Movies Update

What the press release didn't say is that the Movies subscription rate will be increasing slightly sometime towards the end of June.

Also, this (SD1 & SD2) is not as big a deal as it might seem, mainly due to the fact that if Sky didn't do anything with the two empty slots after HD1 & HD2 by the end of June then they would have been released for any of the other broadcasters to use.

NewsReader - if you want me to verify this then PM me and I'll explain.

If that is correct and I don't doubt it one little bit I am on a years 25% discount contract until sometime In July after which I plan to drop the movie channels anyway.
