On demand Catch up - iPlayer etc

      Hi there,
I have Sky+HD. Works well for normal viewing etc.
However, the on demand catchup with the iPlayer service etc does not. If you navigate to a programme where it says "Press select to view", I press select, that little bit of text disappears and nothing happens.

I have spent quite a while on the phone to support but they couldn't work it out so they sent an engineer.

He said it is becasuse we have it on a single feed mode - this didn't add up for me as iPlayer and other catchup comes down the net (the box is connected with a normal IP address by the way).

He then said I could get a powered single feed splitter and connect both inputs up to the one line.

As far as I knew from 4 years ago when we moved to these flats it is not possible to split a feed for the purposes of Sky+.

      Have things moved on?
Does anyone know a fix for the catchup service as it would be handy.

      Thanks,
      Jack

Re: On demand Catch up - iPlayer etc

My box is connected to a single-feed from a communal dish, and is set to use "Single Feed Mode".

No problems at all with the Catch Up / On Demand services.

... and, as you say, it wouldn't make any sense for that to be the cause anyway, given that it uses the internet connection.

Before single-feed mode, I used to use some sort of powered switch thing. It wasn't so I could watch one and record another (not possible), it was simply so that I could use the box via a single-feed without resorting to using "dummy recordings" to tie up the non-connected input. It connected a single-feed to both inputs, and also connected to the SCART socket's switching pin. When the box was on, the switch received power from the SCART switching pin and sent the feed to the box via one input. When the box was off, and not receiving anything from the SCART switching pin, it sent the feed to the box via the other input. Back in those days, one input took priority over the other for unattended recordings while the box was off, and the other input took priority when the box was on, hence why the splitter worked the way it did. I don't know if it's still like that with the current STB software, plus don't see what use it would be for your issue anyway.

Could you also please post the details seen on the 'Network' settings screen too.

Using your remote press <Services> 0 3 (for the Model, Version Number and Manufacturer detail)

Then press 5 for the Network details.

That's excellent. For reference you have the Amstrad DRX890 STB. You don't have the most recent firmware, but that isn't an issue as the next version (53.70.15P) is designed only to fix the Denon issue to the best of my knowledge.

Could you post your router's connection stats please?

I wonder if you have an IP conflict. Could you power your HD box right off please, leave it a couple of minutes, then switch on again. Check the box is in the Attached Devices list on the router and see if you can get On Demand.

You could also try giving the HD box a manual IP-
      192.168.0.200
      255.255.255.0
      192.168.0.1
      8.8.8.8
      8.8.4.4
      Would do.

Ok, I was worried that your connection speed might be too slow.

Other than calling Sky and asking someone to ensure that the Anytime+/On Demand service has been enabled, I'm running out of options. As others have said, the On-Line services work when Anytime/Showcase has been disabled and in Single feed mode.
