Lots of reports I'm seeing of R016.084.66.00P overnight for SKy+hd boxes

There are currently 3 versions in use. There are all the same except for the Home Page.

No. R016 isn't on the DR stream yet.

The only noticeable change between R015 and R016 is the Home Page. Ths is why I didn't do a big post when R016 was released.

There are a few changes under the hood, but they are mainly to add some needed support for new codecs that will be used by a broadcaster or two soon.

So what is different and why?

Quite a few people complained about the layout of the 'Top Picks' area on the home page and also the Mini TV has been changed a little.

Depending on the version you have, you may see a solid 'Top Picks' bar, one with a small box marked 'Top Picks' to the left and a large advertising bar to the right or a small 'Top Picks' to the left and two advertising images to the right.

Sky are monitoring the feedback to see which people like and which they dislike.

This is intentional and should have happened for everyone who was on R016.

After evaluating the feedback about the 3 different homepage layouts on R016, Sky has decided not to roll R016 out.

Why were there 3 different home page layouts. On mine the top picks used to be a huge bar.

It would appear that following beta testing three different release candidates of R016 firmware were produced, I can only assume that a final release was never produced (or has been delayed) due to adverse customer feedback.

I suppose there was one good outcome with this happening. For some unknown reason with R016 I lost the optical decoding. There was the red light but no sound. Had to switch to coaxial.

Since the downgrade to R015 I got the sound back. So glad as I didn't want to have the box replaced when really it was a software issue.

Recording clash improvements
It's now even easier to resolve recording clashes. You can now reschedule any of your clashing shows to another time if available.
Plus if you set a future recording that clashes, you can download it from on demand too (where available). If you reschedule any recordings, you’ll get a simple on-screen notification confirming the changes you’ve made.
We’ll also now automatically set a recording for shows you watch from Catch Up. If you download and then play back the latest episode of a Catch Up show, a series link will be automatically set for any future episodes that are broadcast.
