You need to pull the plug / power down at the mains, then press backup and power up again, not with the remote

It should work with the remote but you need to power down the box with a long press (>5 seconds) of the standby button and ensure that the power LED on the box is red (not amber) before holding the backup button on the box depressed and pressing the Sky button on the remote. Don't release the backup button until either the row of LEDs on the front panel illuminate or the screen displays the updating software warning which could take up to one minute.

Is there a new version due for DRX890 boxes?

I was using the interactive service last night, with a recording in progress & my box switched off by itself at 2:08am.
It came back after a minute showing the 'sky+ HD - please wait' message, then went into standby.
I switched it back on, the recording resumed, so put it into standby & retired.

Today, the synopsis for that recording says 'Part rec: upgrade'.

Even if it was a firmware update, should it be interrupting my usage or recordings?
I do have eco mode on but that turns the box of at 3am so it won't have been that.

A firmware update will normally cause any recordings to be interrupted.

Small update needed in your firmware table - Amstrad DRX595 ver R008.063.49.08P is now available on the DR stream confirmed when I updated my box last week.

Just woke up this morning to find a firmware update to my Samsung HDSKY 500GB box. The new firmware version installed is now R008.063.74.00P

{ was R008.063.71.00P }

Hope this info may help to keep the "chart sticky" up to date !
