Sky+ HD STB Firmware Versions

Good news folks: You may NOT be able to roll the firmware back to R005.

I know that the rollback was locked at one point between R006 and R008 on the DRX89x series. I suspect the same will be true for this new version.

Just checking the Sky forums and it appears that R008.063.71.00P is being rolled out across the Pace, Samsung and DRX780 STBs at long last. It will be done in batches each week. Initially of 100,000 units, it is normal to increase the volume as the rollout progresses.

The initial comments about the Dolby Digital sound not working over HDMI is understandable. As Sky developed the Sky+ HD STB the hardware was improved, although the specific details are not public knowledge. The DRX89x series is far more capable than the others and I suspect that there are a few other features which have been introduced over the past few months which will be sadly missing.

I would welcome someone starting a new thread to discuss/compare what is available on each of these three STBs with this version AND the DRX89x series.

As always, please do let us know via a suitable thread if you come across any problems. This can be fed back to the development team.

My 890 got updated last night to R008.063.49.09P

Had the R008.063.49.06P update on 10th October and the R008.063.49.08P update on 30th October.

Quite a lot of updates in such a short time, this one just mentioned showcase and on demand changes.

Whilst R008.063.49.06P was stable, the development team have been busy picking up on some minor bugs.

I am guessing that as the other Sky+ HD STBs have been getting their R008 updates recently that Sky are wanting to tidy things up before they move on to the next stage of their development cycle. I don't know what this is so please don't ask. Also if I did I more than likely could not say.

Sky have decided to roll back the HD boxes to the previous firmware:

Customers on the version with the problem will be switched as soon as possible, however if you do not want to wait for this, you can perform a foreground software download (DR Download)

As of Monday 2nd*December the software versions available via the DR download process will be updated to:
DRX890, 1Tb, 2Tb, with and without Wifi: R008.063.49.08P
Samsung and Pace HD: R008.063.71.00P
DRX780: R008.063.68.00P

Interesting...

I know of some issues with the firmwares, but it looks like some were a little more serious.

Hopefully it won't be too long before the relative fixes are pushed out.

No major issues here on either my DRX890 or my Samsung box here since getting R008. One thing I have noticed though (on both boxes) is that the remote control is now a bit less responsive. Thought is was the batteries at first but that made no difference.

Are you going to update the table with the software for boxes that are going to get the new software that haven't already? such as Pace, Samsung, Amstrad DRX780?

As of 3rd December 2013 will be available via the DR Stream
