This drive is too fast for the Sky+ HD STB. It's RPM is 7200, ideally you should be using a drive which is specifically suitable for a PVR and spins at 5400 RPM.

The WD AV-GP drives are suitable.

Sky are using the Hitachi CinemaStar drive in their new 2TB STBs. Currently it seems that the only ones available to the public appear to be 250GB or 500GB. However there is a 1TB one available on eBay just now:

      Hitachi 1TB 3.5" SATA CinemaStar 5K1000 HCS5C1010CLA382 on eBay!

      PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.
