Re: Free sky hd+ box replacement offer

A quick update on my last post.

Called Sky Monday, spoke with 1st operator who put me through to his supervisor who began processing my online order, got disconnected. Called back, got different operator who couldn't put me through to previous supervisor, couldn't process order but promised a call back. Got a call back by first supervisor who managed to process my online order in 2 halves (very long winded).

After the above, I checked my Sky Account online and found the orders tracking. I then discovered that the supervisor had added 2x HD + 1x multi-room sub's onto my account (not requested and definitely not agreed to in the call).

Contacted Sky again and spoke with an on-shore operator who confirmed the extra's added onto my account and placed notes from our discussion on file. Now waiting for the orders to be delivered as to try and cancel any unwanted sub's now would likely to complicate matters further. Sent over a copy of the online order confirmation detailing my original order (what the supervisor was meant to have followed when processing by phone) and will be calling Sky again soon.

It's just marked as a swap. They don't know what box they are coming to collect. Just keep the Amstrad box out of sight and have your old sky+ hd box connected to your TV. Make sure you swap the card too.

      lol - You can try

What is worth noting that not every Sky Engineer has taken the old Sky STB away with him, so this may all be academic.

Re: Free sky hd+ box replacement offer

My Thompson box is now showing disturbing symptons such as unscheduled shutdowns when viewing Text or trying a planner rebuild.
(I replaced the PSU capacitors with Satcure ones 6 months ago)
I eventually decided to ring Sky & ask for the "Thompson Box Exchange".
Got a helpfull man who did everything he could but apparently the "System" wouldn't let him make the appointment.
He promised to ring me back in a few minutes - I'm still waiting.

Just about to ring again when I thought to check my Sky account online & there in "Track your Orders" was a scheduled date for an engineer's visit. (Early July)
Gives me time to copy off saved recordings.

Also had an email tonight asking for "Customer Feedback" on my recent enquiry. The only grouse seems to be the failure to ring back.
      Otherwise the CS was painless.

      Regards,

      Max

Re: Free sky hd+ box replacement offer

Had a new box fitted a couple of days ago as part of this offer and having a couple of problems, one minor and one major.

Minor one is that on the TV guide some of the programmes are detailed in white and others orange, like I say not a big deal but annoying all the same. Spent 35 minutes on the Phone to Sky technical, rebooting, changing settings, HDMI cables etc without success, now have an engineer due to come out.

Major problem is that if I have a phone line plugged into the back of the new sky box (have multiromm so this is necessary), my broadband doesn't work, unplug it and it does - suspect I am looking at another long call to their technical folks. For information I dont have Sky broadband.

While I think, the new box was fitted by a contractor and a Sky engineer, old box left behind.

      Cheers

Press Services>Options>Customise. In 'Highlight Programmes Originated in HD', toggle to OFF and press green to Save Settings.

The orange programs are in HD. That is normal for the new EPG. It is incredible that the Sky Help did not realise this.

Are you plugging a filter into the socket first? The white box supplied with many boxes is a splitter, not a filter. A good filter is definitely required for a digi box. Some have had to buy good quality filters to protect their broadband as the filters supplied by Sky were not up to the job.

Thanks to Kenedin and Isitme - will try your suggestions latter - interesting that at one stage the gent from Sky that was getting me to change cables etc etc tried to tell me it was a software issue with my TV...........

Sorted out the broadband issue as well - bought a new router, my BB speed had been slowing down for some weeks and was down to not much faster than dial up, new router fitted and BB speed back to normal and no issue with sky box phone lead either.

Will let you know how i get on with changing the colour of the wording latter

      Cheers

Re: Free sky hd+ box replacement offer

Confirm that is the orange lettering sorted out, appreciate the help.

Unfortunately I have found another problem, phone line doesn't work when the phone line is plugged into the sky box, unplug it from the sky box and dialling tone is back.

Soooooo another 30 minutes on the phone to sky technical help, first the telly people who eventually passed me to the phone folks (we have skytalk) lots of messing around unplugging then replugging all to no avail, so passed back to the TV people who asked my details for the third time and why I was calling! - obviously no hand over between the call centre folks - then tried to tell me phone line was at fault. It was only when I pointed out it worked fine with the old box that they agreed to send an engineer out. Lets see what Thursday and the engineer brings.

I have to say that dealing with Sky's technical folks has been deeply unrewarding.

One last question - my wife has already recorded some programmes, can they be saved and transferred to a new box if one is fitted. If not I'll fill her full of coffee and park her in front of the box until she watches everything she's recorded.

      Cheers

      Plug the peculator in.

If the Sky Engineer cannot quickly fix the STB, then he'll swap it with a new one. Until someone can resolve the issue with Copy+ & Darwin, you can't transfer the contents to another hard drive. It is unlikely that the Sky Engineer will hang around whilst you swap the hard drive from this STB to the replacement.
