HD Recording Clash Whilst Watching Another HD Channel

      Hi all,

I've noticed recently that if I'm watching one HD channel, any recordings on another HD channel do not record due to a clash? (most frequently it's happened whilst watching Monday Night Football on Sky Sports HD & Gadget Show on Five HD).

Has anyone else had this issue?

      I have the 1tb Sky+ HD box.

I think you are missing one dish signal.

I get it occasionally but only when a BBC programme is involved. The planner seems to be incapable of recording two BBC programmes back to back, so it kicks off whatever is on the other tuner as a clash. A planner rebuild makes the problem go away for a while, have you tried that? Something else that may help is to switch off the additional recording time before and after programmes.

Happened again tonight. Watched the end of the Darts & the first 20-25 mins of Match of the day (BBC HD) hasn't recorded.

Old_nick - Both signal strengths are 50-60% & both qualities are in the 90% sort of range according to the Signal page in the settings.

SadBloke - All I ever seem to do is Planner Rebuilds . When it first started I did a rebuild & then everything I tried to record failed for a week. I then rebuilt it again & everything was fine for a while. But this seems to be a problem I can't seem to fix.
I'll try taking the additional recording time off though. Not thought of that. Ta.

It's a software thing on Amstrads, judging by what I've read elsewhere, especially with the latest EPG Version. Usually happens with BBC HD and ITV HD recordings. Have you got ITV 1 HD as an Added Channel?

Similar problem here. Haven't seen any fixes.

Re: HD Recording Clash Whilst Watching Another HD Channel

When recording programmes (HD or SD) back-to-back, a trick I've learned is not to erase one programme until you've watched the next, because quite often the missing part of the second programme is tacked on the end of the first. Really this is a programming 'bug', because recording two programmes back-to-back with an extra 4 minutes at the start and finish requires two tuners, which means a clash if you're watching something else at the same time. The software should remove the extra time at the beginning and end if a back-to-back recording is being made.

Re: HD Recording Clash Whilst Watching Another HD Channel

Kenedin - I tried it with Sky 1 HD yesterday & the same thing happened. I tried recording The Simpsons whilst I was watching Watford vs Pompy & although my planner said it was recording The Simpsons, the red recording light never came on & there was nothing saved on the box.

Old_nick - I'm not recording back to back, these are concurrent HD recordings. I have no problems with watching in HD & recording in SD.

I might try calling Sky as the box isn't a year old yet, but from comments on other threads we all know how much use that is...

Re: HD Recording Clash Whilst Watching Another HD Channel

I've not had any clashes I haven't been able to overcome - but have found that watching BBC1HD and/or ITV1HD while that channel is being recorded takes two tuners.

So you can record ITV1HD and watch and record Sky Sports HD - but can not then switch to ITV1HD as it then says a recording has to be cancelled - even though one of the recordings is ITV1HD.
